Dropship Review: Read This Before Using the Tool

What is Dropship?

Dropship homepage

Dropship is a product research tool that helps you find amazing products for your dropshipping store.

Their mission is to be an innovator in how entrepreneurs find their products!

Dropship (or Dropship.io) was founded in 2020 by two brothers who recognized store owners had a hard time finding good products to sell.

After creating a minimum viable product (MVP) and developing a brand identity, the project was launched in December 2021, so it's still a relatively new player!

Dropship roadmap

Nevertheless, they're growing quickly. Currently, they have over 25,000 clients and 15+ happy employees spread across six countries.

What features does Dropship offer?

So, what's the recipe for Dropship's success?

In an attempt to find out, let's take a look at their four main features!

Product Database

Dropship Product Database

The first feature we will discuss is Dropship's Product Database.

In their words, this is where your product research begins!

The Product Database is a database containing millions of products from other ecommerce stores.

But that's not all.

Each product in the database comes with a load of helpful information. For example, you can see the product's monthly revenue, price, creation date, and more!

And don't worry if you think you will have to scroll through hundreds of products to find the one you're looking for. Dropship built an advanced filter system so that you can filter the database on things like price, revenue, niche, and more:

As you can see in the top-right corner of the image above, you can save your filter as a preset. But another feature we particularly like is that Dropship has already built some filter presets that you can use to find the best products.

For example, you can filter on things like low-ticket products with high demand, new best-performing products, or best-performing one-product stores:

All in all, the Product Database allows you to save time on product research and gives you extensive insights about the products you're interested in!

Sales Tracker

Dropship Sales Tracker

The next feature is called Sales Tracker, and this one is great for spying on your competitors.

Once you find a product through the Product Database, you can use Sales Tracker to research the product and help you determine if it's worth selling based on its demand.

In the Sales Tracker menu, you can track multiple stores and see the sales data for today, yesterday, the last seven days, and the previous 30 days:

Note: Dropship doesn't know the exact sales data of a product or website; these numbers are just estimates! (More info here)

You can even extend this data to see the store's revenue and sales over time and the number of unique products sold:

We think it's a fantastic feature of staying up to date with new trends and finding inspiration for products to sell!

Also, it's great to lower the amount of guesswork, as it allows you to make data-driven decisions.

Competitor Research

Dropship Competitor Research

Dropship's third feature is Competitor Research.

If you want to find your competitors or study the market of the product you're interested in, then this is your place to be!

With Competitor Research, you can see how many competitors you will have, who your competitors are, and identify their strengths and weaknesses.

For example, here are some of the competitors you will have when selling a cat night lamp:

Like with the Product Database, the Competitor Research feature includes an advanced filter system to find the exact competitors you're looking for.

And once you find your top competitors, you can proceed to track them using the Sales Tracker feature to get even more information!

Portfolio

Dropship Portfolio

Last but not least, the Portfolio.

This is an amazing feature as well. It offers incredible value, and you don't even have to do anything for it!

Every week on Monday at 12 PM EST, Dropship will add 40 potentially winning products to your portfolio.

Dropship Portfolio calendar

And those aren't just any random products from the database.

The products that appear in your portfolio are picked by an advanced algorithm and then manually screened by a team of specialists.

And that's not all! Each product comes with a variety of helpful information, including:

  • The product and shipping costs.
  • A product description.
  • The benefits and drawbacks.
  • The saturation level.
  • A list of competitors.
  • Facebook and TikTok content.
  • And much more!

Doesn't that look amazing?

How much does Dropship cost?

So, with all those great features, you're probably wondering what Dropship costs.

Well, let's dive straight into their three pricing plans:

Dropship pricing

It starts at $29 per month, which gets you the Basic plan. This is a great option for those on a budget, but it limits you to 20 searches per day on the Product Database and Competitor research, and you only get access to 20 out of 40 products from the weekly Portfolio drop.

The next one is the Standard plan of $49 per month, which will be an excellent choice for most people as it doesn't limit you as much as the Basic plan.

And lastly, there is the $79 per month Premium plan, designed to help you get the most out of the platform!

The pros and cons of Dropship

Should you use Dropship? Or isn't it worth the price tag?

Let's try to find an answer together by discussing their pros and cons:

Pros

We will start with the pros:

1. Amazing for finding information about competitors

First of all, Dropship is a fantastic tool for finding information about other online stores.

If you've ever asked yourself something like, hmm, I wonder how many sales this store is getting, then Dropship can give you a great estimate!

They have two tools that are particularly useful for finding information about competitors and online stores, the Sales Tracker and the Competitor Research.

Competitor Research allows you to find other online stores selling the product you're interested in, and then you can use the Sales Tracker to get more information about those stores!

2. The Portfolio is a great place to find new product ideas

One of our favorite features of Dropship is the Portfolio.

Besides getting inspiration for new product ideas, it's simply astonishing to see how much additional information Dropship includes for most of the products.

Most products include high-quality images, a list of competitors, existing Facebook and TikTok Ads, a list of interests to target, and more!

3. Includes free tools

You don't necessarily have to become a paid member to use Dropship.

That's because they also offer several free tools!

There is an Interest Explorer to find hidden Facebook interests, a ROAS Calculator, a Profit Calculator, and more:

4. Clean and easy-to-use interface

At last, you can see that Dropship made sure their tool has a good user interface.

The design is clean, and using the tool is intuitive, even if you've never seen it before.

After the initial look, it will feel like you've been using the tool for weeks already!

Cons

Nothing is perfect, so let's check out some of the drawbacks of Dropship:

1. It's not that focused on finding suppliers

You should know that Dropship is currently more focused on showing you products from other online stores instead of from the supplier pages.

Some will think this is a disadvantage, but others will like it because it's something that most other product research tools don't focus on!

For example, there is a 'Search on AliExpress' button in the Product Database, but it only searches for the product name on AliExpress (it doesn't link to the product page).

Two people searching on Google

Also, the Product Database shows the selling price of the product, but it doesn't give an indication of the product's price at the supplier.

2. A bit on the pricier side

Another small con of Dropship is that its pricing plans are slightly more expensive than the competition.

We think it's worth it, but someone with a smaller budget may opt for a cheaper product research tool like Dropship Spy, which costs just $19 per month.

3 Dropship alternatives

If you're someone who likes to do research before committing to something, you might be wondering about your alternatives.

Which other product research tools are out there?

Final verdict

So, what's our final verdict?

In short, we think Dropship is one of the best product research tools of this moment, together with Sell The Trend. We would definitely use it again for product research in the future!

When comparing these two, Dropship might be a little bit better at researching other online stores and browsing through product ideas, while Sell The Trend is a bit better at helping you find winning products yourself and the (local) suppliers for them.
